Monday night the Hampton City Council held a workshop meeting and received a presentation from police chief Mark Morrison on the finalized vicious animal ordinance that is ready for the first reading.
Morrison says the major changes to the code adds safeguards for impounding dogs, streamlines the process, and includes micro-chipping.
Morrison added that there is still a process to appeal with the new ordinance, the time frame is just shortened to 72 hours.
The first reading of the proposed vicious animal ordinance will be held during Thursday’s regular Hampton City Council meeting.
