Recent rain continues to put a dent in Iowa drought conditions

The latest U-S Drought Monitor Report shows that through Tuesday, the coverage area for no drought conditions listed in Iowa increased by almost 14 percent from last week to just under 28 percent for this week.

The coverage area for the moderate drought category decreased over 16 percent to 13-point-34 percent, while the coverage area for abnormally dry increased slightly.

In the broadcast area, a majority of Wright, Hardin, Franklin, Cerro Gordo, and the southwestern portion of Grundy County have no drought conditions listed this week.

The rest of the local area is either listed in the abnormally dry category or in a moderate drought.
