A regional severe weather outbreak is possible today across the upper Midwest including all of Iowa. The broadcast area is under a moderate risk for severe thunderstorms today, with damaging winds, very large hail, and tornadoes, some strong, all possible.
The strongest storms will most likely occur between 4pm-midnight, and will be moving east-northeast at up to 50 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service says though that storm development remains uncertain, as some areas may not receive any storms. Storms that do develop this afternoon into this evening will quickly become severe with little time to react. Have a plan in place should a warning be issued in your area.
The bottom line is that many locations will see no storms today. IF/WHERE storms do develop, they have the potential to be extremely strong and dangerous.
