The CAL School Board held a special meeting Thursday and began the process of cutting up to 200-thousand dollars from next year’s budget.
Some of the budget reductions will be coming from eliminating the position of a bus driver/substitute teacher, as the number of bus routes will be dropping from 3 to 2 and a half, with one route being solely in Latimer.
Another budget reduction will be eliminating the position of a full time counselor.
The CAL School Board is also trying to find ways to increase revenue, one of which will be sharing the position of transportation director with the Belmond-Klemme School District, and to increase the daily charge for those in the 3-year-old preschool program.
The CAL board will continue to look at budget reductions for next year and the following year as well.
