Monday night the Hampton City Council held a workshop meeting and discussed the options to fill the vacant Ward 3 council seat.

Kevin Blanford resigned from his Ward 3 council seat at the end of last month.

The consensus of the Hampton council was to appoint someone, and to follow a fairly quick timeline.

Hampton Mayor Steve Birdsall says if the council formally approves the effort Thursday night, applications will then be accepted.

“Start taking applications on Friday through next week and then that we’d only take applications for one week. Then we’d move into the workshop. We would do any interviews of candidates and then appoint on the 27th.”

The workshop meeting Birdsall referred to will be held on March 24th.
