Several local track & field teams will compete at Tuesday’s indoor invitational at Wartburg College.
Locally, girls and boys teams from Aplington-Parkersburg, Clarksville Dike-New Hartford, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, South Hardin and West Fork will attend. North Butler will send only its boys team.
Aplington-Parkersburg girls coach Alex Pollock says indoor meets are a great way to break up the grueling preseason schedule before outdoor meets begin.
“We entered into a couple indoor meets this year,” Pollock says. “Really, we’re not usually big on those. And I’m not saying it’s the end all be all, but I think getting the girls the opportunity to get out there and compete, that’s a whole lot more fun than just sitting there training on our track. So if we can get the opportunity to go run inside in good weather and compete against some of the best in the state of Iowa, we’re gonna do that.”
The meet will include 32 teams from all enrollment classes. Action will begin at 2:30 p.m.
