The AGWSR boys golf team won a triangular at Denver with 178 strokes. Sumner-Fredericksburg won a tiebreaker over the Cyclones, which each shot a 181. Denver had both the medalist and runner-up, but each AGWSR golfer shot below a 50. Eli Kuper was AGWSR’s best performer with a 42. Head Coach Ryley Schipper says the team managed the best it could while battling high winds and fast greens. The Cougars will return to action Monday at South Hardin.
The girls golf team shot 250 to place third in a triangular with the same teams. Denver shot a 207 and Sumner-Fredericksburg won with a 182. Gabrielle Kruger led with a 50. The Cougars will be at Hampton-Dumont-CAL Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the Hampton Country Club.
The girls track & field team tied for second with 24 points at the Lady Wolverine Invitational at Dike-New Hartford, which was cancelled after five events due to weather. First place finish: Ava Olson – high jump. Second place finish: sprint medley relay. They’ll return to action Monday at Hudson.
The boys track & field team placed eighth with 35 points at the Hudson Pirate Relays. First place finish: Kaden Abbas – 110-meter hurdles. Third place finishes: Aiden Heitland – shot put and discus. They’ll be back in action Tuesday at Madrid.
