Grundy Center spring sports update – 4-23-24

The Grundy Center boys golf team tied for first place with 331 strokes at Monday’s 18–hole tournament at Aplington-Parkersburg. The Spartans were listed as the runner-up and Waverly-Shell Rock earned the title. Judd Jirovsky was the individual champion, finishing with 71 strokes, which is one under par. They’ll return to action Friday at Waterloo Columbus.

The girls tennis team lost 8-1 to Oelwein at home. The win was an 8-6 triumph by Lilly Lewis/Jasmine Hjelle at #2 singles. The Spartans are 1-4 and will be at Charles City Tuesday at 4:00.

In other Tuesday action, the girls golf team will compete at an invitational hosted by DNH/AP at Legend Trail Golf Club at 3:30.

The boys tennis team will host South Hardin in a battle of 1-3 teams at 4:15.

The track & field teams will compete in different locations. The boys will compete at Vinton-Shellsburg at 4:30 and the girls will be at the Lady Simons Relays at Dike-New Hartford at 4:45.
