The Aplington-Parkersburg FFA chapter will hold its 2024 Falcon Growers Plant Sale Wednesday through Friday.
Annuals, hanging baskets, and edibles such as tomatoes and peppers, among other items will be available for purchase. Member Cora Berends says it’s a great way to financially support the chapter.
“It’s just a great way to support the kids in your community and really just be able to see the hard work that they’re putting in during the school hours,” Berends says. “And it’s really kind of cool to see something that they do. And then, you know, Mother’s Day is also coming up. If you forgot to get a gift, you can come and pick up a flower or a hanging basket for your mother real quick.”
The chapter began the project in early March, and has worked nearly every day since to prepare the plants for sale. Member Madison Morris says students have engaged in real life experiences, outside of a classroom setting.
“It’s a great work-based experience for us,” Morris says. “And we also get a lot of fundraising for our FFA chapter and just these ag science classes through the FFA Greenhouse. And it’s just a great opportunity for all students to take part in.”
The sale will be from 3:00 through 7:00 p.m. each day at the greenhouse, which is between the ag classroom and softball field.
