A zoo in China is under scrutiny for dying dogs black and white to look like baby pandas. The Taizhou Zoo in Northern China opened a new exhibit that included several chow chow dogs that had been given a new hair do. The dog breed is originally from the area. known for their dense fluffy coat. While some criticized the zoo for dying the dogs fur, stating it’s toxic to do so. The zoo retorted saying it used a non-toxic dye and that its just like a human dying their hair. The dogs were advertised at the zoo as “panda dogs”. This came about since the zoo does not have any actual pandas to showcase. It is known that Pandas are an endangered species that do not have luck conceiving while under captive hold in zoos and rehabs. I think if the Panda Dogs are happy, healthy and being cared for then it’s just fine. Aren’t they stinkin cute??
