The 4-7 Hampton-Dumont-CAL softball team hopes to keep the momentum of back to back wins rolling as they travel to West Marshall for the Rose Festival Tournament on Saturday.
The Bulldogs in their last two games won 11-1 over Janesville in five innings on Tuesday and held on for 5-4 win over Humboldt on Wednesday. Over the two games Junior Malie Ott ruled the circle with 15 strikeouts and only allowed three earned runs in 10 innings. The Bulldogs also built back confidence offensively with 23 hits.
Bulldogs Head Coach Kelsey Enslin says tournaments bring the team together for a day to have fun and compete.
“We haven’t had a tournament, we didn’t play in any last year,” says Enslin. “Tournaments are always a fun thing, you get to go spend the day together. We have some tough competition. We play West Marshall in the opening game. So going down, having some fun, hopefully, winning and competing with some teams. Hope it comes out good for us.”
The Bulldogs tournament opener will be against #12(3A) West Marshall at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Also competing at the tournament is #12(2A) East Marshall and Marshalltown.
The tournament begins at 1:00 p.m. at State Center
