The Aplington-Parkersburg softball team lost 10-0 in five innings at #12 (2A) East Marshall Wednesday in a game that aired on 99 The Wave. The baseball game between the schools was cancelled.

The Mustangs started hot with eight runs in the first inning, five of which happened with two outs. They got two runs each on doubles by Peyton Grabenbauer and Rayne McIlrath. The Falcon defense stepped up in the second inning, but East Marshall scored twice more in the third. Needing to score at least once to extend the game in the top of the fifth, the Falcons weren’t able to mount any offense. Head Coach Emily Williamson.

“First inning was tough,” Williamson says. “They’re just a really well coached, good hitting team. They came out right away and just, we made a couple mistakes and they hit the ball really well. They jumped out to that early lead and then we settled in a little bit. Their pitcher’s a really good pitcher. We had a hard time getting any runs on the board. From what I understand, she’s on track to probably break the school strikeout record. So she’s just that kind of caliber pitcher. But we had some hits, but unfortunately they’re right to people and just couldn’t produce anything out of it.”

The Falcons had two hits, both by Eva Walker. Aubrey Williamson pitched three innings with eight hits, eight walks and one strikeout. AP (6-9, 4-5 NICL-C) will host Hudson Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
