AGWSR Baseball falls in extras, Softball heading to Roland-Story Tournament

The AGWSR baseball team rallied in the seventh inning, but fell 4-3 in eight innings at Gladbrook-Reinbeck Thursday. Trailing 2-0 in the seventh inning, Collin Willems singled to score the first run. After a sacrifice bunt scored a run, Willems came home on a passed ball for a 3-2 AGWSR lead. The Rebels responded by tying the game in the seventh. In the eighth, the Rebels scored on a pickoff attempt that went to the outfield, winning the game. Gladbrook-Reinbeck won the season series after the teams split a doubleheader earlier in the season. AGWSR (4-15, 2-7 NICL-W) will be at East Marshall for a doubleheader Monday.

The Cougar softball team (2-18, 0-8 NICL-W) will be at a tournament at Roland-Story Friday, where they’ll play Grinnell at 4:30 p.m. Other teams at the tournament include #12 (4A) Bondurant-Farrar, Colo-Nesco, Glenwood, Roland-Story, Saydel and Webster City.
