Dike-New Hartford Softball Coach Tianna Butteris has welcomed a newborn daughter, and has stepped aside from the role for maternity leave. Former head coach Rhandi Oelmann, who stepped down after last season, has returned to lead the program in the interim.

“Tianna has done a great job with these girls,” Oelmann says. “I don’t know how many people know that she was pregnant. She had her little girl six weeks early. So I got the call back and here we are. And honestly, I’ve missed it a lot and I love these girls and I love coaching them.”

At 18-8, the Wolverines have won six straight, the last four of which ended early due to the runs-ahead rule. Oelmann says in-game adjustments will be a key focus as the postseason nears.

“Pitchers are going to be different speeds, they’re going to throw different things, we have to make adjustments. Even umpires are going to have different strike zones, and if we can’t adjust at the plate sooner, we’re going to get in a game where that’s going to cost us. So I just think making those early adjustments.”

The Wolverines will host Don Bosco Monday at 7:00 p.m.
