The National Weather Service has some reminders to try and beat the heat in the forecast for this weekend.
Drink plenty of water, even if you are not thirsty, avoid the consumption of alcohol and caffeine, watch for signs of heat illness, and check in on elderly or ill neighbors and family members.
In addition, never leave kids or pets in unattended vehicles, take frequent rest breaks in shade or air conditioning, and wear lightweight, light-colored, loose clothing.
