Saturday about 10am the Iowa State Patrol was called out on the report of a two vehicle accident northwest of Shell Rock along Highway 3 near Vintage Lane.
56-year-old Sonia High of Shell Rock was traveling westbound on Highway 3 driving a 2012 GMC Acadia when for some reason she crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound semi-truck and trailer combination driven by 62-year-old Michael Toussaint of Sumner head on.
High was airlifted to a hospital in Iowa City for treatment of unknown injuries, while Toussaint was not hurt.
Highway 3 was closed for at least a couple of hours following the accident, which remains under investigation.
