A 59-year-old man from Galt was sentenced this week on a charge of attempted murder in Wright County District Court.
Jesus Hernandez, Junior was convicted in June by a jury after the state alleged Hernandez tried to kill Leobardo Sedano Diaz of Thompson.
Evidence presented at the trial showed that the two men got into an argument at the Hernandez home on May 26th, 2023, and Hernandez slashed Diaz in the throat with a knife, leaving a wound that caused a substantial risk of death.
Hernandez was sentenced by Wright County District Court Judge Christopher Foy for up to 25 years in prison, of which Hernandez must serve over 17 years before becoming eligible for parole.
