Local individuals take home top-10 finishes and season-bests at WSR meet Tuesday

Three local schools competed at Tuesday’s Dick Pollitt Cross Country Classic hosted by Waverly-Shell Rock. No team scores were kept.

Grundy Center’s entire girls and boys roster recorded season-best times. Emerson Vokes took runner-up in the 11th/12th boys race in 15:39.1. Jayce Fryslie was third in the boys 9th/10th race in 17:55.2, just over a minute faster than his previous best. Grace Storjohann placed sixth in the girls 11th/12th race, shaving 2:04 off her previous best by finishing in 20:25.7.

Aplington-Parkersburg’s Quinnlyn Schultz was the team’s top finisher, shaving off 1:35 by finishing in 21:53.8 in the girls 11th/12th race. Trevan Thomas was 14th in the 11th/12th boys race in a time of 17:52.5, which was 1:26 faster than his previous best.

Clarksville’s Eve Jordan cut off 1:53 by finishing in 24:11.4 to place 35th in the girls 9th/10th race.
