The Iowa Falls-Alden football team will have a tall task in its final non-district game when they travel to #1 (3A) Clear Lake Friday.

At 0-2, the Cadets are looking to bounce back from consecutive shutout losses to begin the season. However, a sophomore-heavy team has kept themselves within striking distance with relatively sound defense in the first halves of games.

Head Coach Eric Walkingstick says the focus will be on themselves as they look to enter district play with as much momentum as possible.

“They’ve got lots of talent,” Walkingstick says. “They’re big, they’re physical, they got a little bit of everything. I mean, this should be a really good year for them. We know that they’re gonna play hard, hard-nosed football. So, for us, we gotta go back to trying to eliminate mistakes and playing good football and using our last non-district game to try to prepare for district play.”

At 2-0, Clear Lake has decisively defeated its opponents with strong first half performances. Last week, they put the running clock rule into effect in the first half in a 56-7 win over New Hampton. They’ve averaged 337 rushing yards in their first two games, with multiple options in the run and passing game.

Clear Lake has won three straight in the series. The game will start at 7:00 p.m.
