The AGWSR volleyball team will continue NICL-West action Tuesday at East Marshall.
The Cougars (5-10, 1-1 NICL-W) will look to snap a five-match losing streak, having gone 0-4 at Saturday’s tournament at Aplington-Parkersburg, preceded by a conference loss to #14 (2A) Grundy Center. Head Coach Jill Smith on the intensity it takes in conference play.
“Our schedule is really tough,” Smith says. “These are the types of matches that we have night in and night out. I talked to the team about using this match to grow and to get better. I thought, especially after that first set, we did a good job of working to make adjustments. We have to really make sure that we’re staying disciplined in what we’re doing and play to win. I felt like at the end of that fourth set there, I kind of started playing not to lose for the last few points there. We need to figure out how to stay aggressive and finish.”
Elise Olson leads a balanced attack with 59 kills, and Brylea Metzgar has 54.
East Marshall (4-13, 0-1 NICL-W) has lost seven straight, including five losses at Saturday’s home tournament. Throughout the streak, they haven’t won a set. Cora Talbert leads with 44 kills.
AGWSR has won the last six meetings, including two last season. The first serve will be at 7:30 p.m.
