The Belmond-Klemme football team will look to improve their playoff chances with a quality district win over Lake Mills on Friday. It will also be the Broncos homecoming game.

Belmond-Klemme (1-4, 1-3 A-2) lost a competitive district game 30-25 at Newman Catholic last week. The Broncos had 376 total yards and scored their most points this season in their loss to the Knights. The Broncos field the second best passing offense in the district with 697 passing yards. Brody Heifner has been a key playmaker on both sides of the ball for the Broncos, with 631 passing yards, 262 rushing yards, seven total touchdowns and 31.5 tackles.

B-K Head Coach Josh Faaborg on the homecoming atmosphere and stopping a consistent Bulldogs run game.

Added levels of support, I think, have taken place in the last year. We’re excited to see that come to fruition during our homecoming this Friday night. It should be an electric, fun football environment,” says Faaborg. “Simple, stop the run. They’re good up front, we know that. They’ve got some big guys that have some good experience. We just gotta make sure that our guys on the front four or five are ready to go. Linebackers have great keys behind them. Then the defensive backs, stop big plays, and keep everything in front of them.”

Lake Mills (3-2, 2-1 A-2) won 34-14 at home over North Union in a district game last week. The Bulldogs have the third most rushing yards in the district with 1,071 yards. Two backs have rushed for over 340 yards, including Landon Price with 394 yards and six touchdowns, and Carter Christianson with 342 yards and a touchdown.

Lake Mills won last year’s meeting 41-0 at home.

Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. in Belmond.
