Playing their first matches in over a week, the AGWSR volleyball team went 0-5 at Saturday’s tournament at Waverly-Shell Rock.
The Cougars began with a lopsided 2-0 loss to #1 (2A) Denver, 21-9, 21-6.
In a closer sweep, the Cougars fell 2-0 to #15 (3A) Nevada, 21-12, 21-19.
In the first three-set match of the day, the Cougars fell 2-1 to the hosts, 21-15, 17-21, 15-5.
In the first meeting between the programs, AGWSR kept within striking distance in a 21-16, 21-17 loss to #3 (5A) Ankeny.
In the finale, AGWSR fell 2-1 to #6 (1A) Janesville.
AGWSR (9-19) will return to action against Wapsie Valley in Tuesday’s first round of the NICL Tournament in Dike.
