The North Butler volleyball team is in the midst of a 10 day break between matches.
The Bearcats in recent action went 2-2 at the Oelwein tournament on Saturday. The Bearcats secured wins over Alburnett and Kee, and lost to Nashua-Plainfield and Oelwein.
North Butler Head Coach Sarah Goodrich on an important reminder to players in the midst of leads or rallies.
“Never getting content. I think sometimes we get complacent and a little too comfortable until we’re like oh goodness we better go,” says Goodrich. “I think just staying focused and disciplined every single ball no matter if we come on top or we lose that point. Then resetting and refocusing for the next ball.”
Colby Wix has 37 aces (tied for most in the conference). Olivia Dralle leads the team with 113 kills on the season.
Goodrich on the leadership of Dralle and Wix to this stage.
“Olivia Dralle is a huge leader that has brought her teammates together and was like we got to go now. She’s that positive leader that has brought everyone together when things started not to go our way to allow us not to quit but to reset, refocus and regain. Colby Wix, is always looking for ways to get better. This past week of practices and our losses that we have had, she’s really focused on what she can do to bring our team together. She has brought that energy and brought that intensity right away from the line for us.”
Also stepping up as difference makers is setter Zoey Thompson with 184 assists (fifth-most in conference) and libero Rayne Becker with 163 digs.
North Butler (6-18, 2-4 TIC-East) will return to the court as part of a quad at Hampton-Dumont-CAL on October 15th.
