On September 27th, there was a dog attacked by a dog at-large in Latimer.
The Latimer City Council this week was informed that after consulting with the city attorney and reviewing the city ordinances, it has been recommended to amend the ordinance to state animals deemed vicious are no longer allowed to visit or live in the city limits, and to follow the civil penalties section for a first offense of no more than $750 in addition to the animal at-large fee of $65 to the vicious dog owner.
The Latimer council agreed with the city attorney’s opinion, and will fine the vicious dog owner $300 and an animal at-large fee of $65.
The city clerk is to get the ordinance ready, with assistance from NIACOG, for next month’s council meeting to hold the first reading of the ordinance amendment.
