Five days after the teams met in the North Iowa Cedar League Tournament Championship match, the #11 (2A) Grundy Center and #1 (2A) Denver volleyball teams will meet Tuesday inside the Cyclone Center. It’ll be the third meeting between the programs this season, with Denver having won the previous two 2-0.

After falling decisively to the Cyclones Thursday, the Spartans went 2-3 at Saturday’s tournament at Cedar Rapids Jefferson. Head Coach Lori Willis on the team’s approach to Tuesday’s regular season finale.

“We just need to approach it as, you know what, we’re playing the number one team in the state,” Willis says. “The only thing that we can do is get better. We can get better in our reading. We can get better in our defense. We can get better in our attacking, better in our blocking. Like if we can just accelerate that really fast, then you can battle with them. You might not get the win, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn and get better, so that you maybe are able to stress out them later on in the season, because, you know, who knows what’ll happen down the road.”

Denver (40-3) will be back in action for the first time since Thursday’s conference tournament matches. They’ll also end their regular season and look to enter the postseason as the #1 overall seed in Class 2A with momentum.

The first serve will be at 7:30 p.m.
