The North Iowa Cedar League Cross Country Championships will be held Thursday at Jesup Golf & Country Club.
Coming off a runner-up finish last year, Grundy Center junior Emerson Vokes will go for a conference title, entering with the fastest time in the boys field and in Class 2A at 15:12. Dike-New Hartford’s Bryan Munguia-Chavez has the eighth-best time in the field, and has a chance to contend for a medal. Oelwein has four competitors in the top 10, and will look to contend for the team title.
Hudson appears to be the team to beat in the girls race, entering with four top-10 times among the field, though Union senior Amilia Condon’s season-best time of 18:21 is over a minute faster than the second-fastest time. With a season-best time of 19:38, Grundy Center junior Grace Storjohann has the fourth-fastest time in the field, with a strong possibility to earn a medal. Aplington-Parkersburg’s Quinnlyn Schultz has the ninth-fastest time in the field at 20:37.
The girls race will start at 3:50 p.m., followed by the boys race at 4:20.
