The Hardin County Auditor’s Office will be recounting absentee ballots beginning at 1pm today.
The administrative recount was called by county auditor Jolene Pieters due to the system was still in the test mode and the results did not get uploaded to the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office the night of the election.
The recount will be completed by machine.
As it stands now, results from this week’s election showed no absentee ballots cast from Hardin County, which put the voter turnout in the county at 47-point-73 percent.
The results of today’s recount will be sent to the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office and will also be posted on the Hardin County website.
