Thursday, the Hardin County Auditor’s Office held a recount of absentee ballots.
The recount was called by county auditor Jolene Pieters due to the system being in test mode Tuesday and the results did not get uploaded to the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office the night of the election.
All the ballots in Hardin County have been tallied and added to the final numbers on the Iowa Secretary of State’s website.
There were more votes added to the Hardin County Board of Supervisors race between incumbent BJ Hoffman and challenger Lisa Lawler. Hoffman defeated Lawler with 5,216 votes, or 65.19%, to Lawler’s 2,761 votes, or 34.51%.
The recount also added votes to the proposed $14,450,000 bond issue in the AGWSR School District. The bond failed with 1,380, or 59.95% voting yes, while 922, or 40.05% voted no. The bond fell three yes votes short of the 60% approval needed for school bond votes to pass.
