The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Drama Department will be presenting the musical; “Into The Woods Jr.” this Friday and Saturday.
The musical features some past-time favorite characters like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and his beanstalk.
Jaliyah Ivey is one of 10 seniors taking part in the musical and is playing one of the leading roles this weekend.
“The musical centers on a baker and his wife who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival, and Jack, who wishes his cow would give some milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.”
Shakira Vela Maza is another senior playing one of the leading roles and says the performance will be fun for the whole family to attend.
“I think it would be a great opportunity for kids to get a glimpse of what a play is like and how fun it can be to watch and maybe they will be inspired.”
Performances are Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of the Living Word in Hampton. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.
