The Grundy Center City Council this week discussed having a police officer attend the Basic School Resource Officer Training next month in Topeka, Kansas.
The Grundy Center Public Safety Committee met with school district administration to discuss their needs. The Grundy Center School District is asking for 1-2 hours daily for school resource officer coverage and are willing to pay for the training with the next fiscal year budget.
Some council members raised concerns about losing an officer from regular duty, so the matter was tabled.
The Grundy Center City Council did approve for the mayor to sign a letter of support for the Grundy County Conservation Board Community Attraction and Tourism grant application for the Pioneer Trail project.
