The Grundy Center girls basketball team will open its season by hosting BCLUW Monday.
Coming off a 21-3 season that featured a state tournament appearance, the Spartans have been tasked with replacing four starters, with junior guard Kali Aldrich being the lone returning starter. However, five regular rotation players will give the team a viable starting point, with Karlee Lynch being the returning leading scorer at 4.4 points per game.
“That first game is always very interesting, and BCLUW is a team that they’ve got a good post presence obviously and have some good guards,” Head Coach Matt Lindeman says. “Had a nice year last year and look to continue to build off of that. Coach Johnson I think does a really good job, and they will continue to build off that and then build off of their success that they had in volleyball. That can only help you. I think it’ll be a really good test for us. We’re at home, which is good for us, being a younger team. We’re at home and can get kind of those first game, little jitters and unknowns out. And how do we respond to adversity when that happens Monday night? And who’s gonna step up ultimately? Who’s gonna step up? And how are we going to do that as a complete team?”
BCLUW is coming off a 14-9 season and returns three starters, including Grace Farnsworth at 10.9 points per game.
It’ll tip off at 7:30 p.m.
