The Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, says this will be the busiest Thanksgiving travel period on record.
The TSA is projected to screen 18-point-3 million people from today through December 2nd.
To travel with ease, TSA advises passengers to pack smart and start with an empty bag. Passengers who do so are less likely to bring prohibited items through the checkpoint.
All liquids, gels and aerosols must be 3-point-4 ounces or less when packed in a carry-on bag.
Iowa has 8 commercial airports, with at least one airline serving each. The airports are in Sioux City, Fort Dodge, Des Moines, Mason City, Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, and Burlington.
