The Iowa Falls-Alden basketball teams will return to North Central Conference action for the first time this week when they host Clear Lake for a doubleheader Friday on 99 The Wave.

The Cadet boys (7-5, 2-3 NCC) will go for the upset against the undefeated #2 (3A) Lions (9-0, 4-0 NCC). Head Coach Mike Holm says the team is heading in the right direction, but the culmination of the small things will make a big difference.

“We’re playing well, we’re doing a lot of good things on the floor,” Holm says. “It’s a lot of little things that we need to tweak and get better at. We’re back on track with three games so we’ll have to figure things out as we go.”

Clear Lake has had a dominant season, beating opponents by an average of 20 points. The Cadets will look for a more balanced effort behind top-scorer Kale Kalous to try to pull off the upset.

The Cadet girls (7-6, 2-3 NCC) have snapped a four-game losing streak by winning two straight non-conference games. Despite their sub-.500 record, Clear Lake (3-8, 2-3 NCC) has a chance to take a jump in the standings with a win. They’re coming off a 67-29 loss to #9 (3A) Roland-Story Monday.

Coverage will start at 6:00 p.m., followed by the tipoff at 6:15.
